Post by: Adam Lincoln on August 18, 2007, 03:46:27 am
I know there are some walls in Bangkok, but has anyone been to one they would recommend. Ie, with some good bouldering walls in it? Also one thats pretty easy to find. Found some on google but none really have pics to show whats its like.

Just got a day and half to kill in Bangkok so keen to get to one....

For future reference, there is not a climbing wall in Bangkok anymore. The only decent one has now closed down. That just leaves the really poor top ropping wall in the mall. Think Milton Keynes wall..... Only worse.

Ok!! On to a serious note of walls.   This year has seen many changes in the Big Mango.   BRC'S bouldering closed down.   Pro-climber moved, so they haven't built a new bouldering as yet.  The Seri centre bouldering wall also closed down last year.  This now means there are no bouldering walls in Bangkok.

Roped Walls - There are now only two roped walls in Bangkok.  The first and the best is at Hua Maak stadium next to RAMKENHENG UNIVERSITY (Free to use).  Its a 15 metre EP wall over hanging by 15 degrees.  Its built outside, so if its rainning it can't be used.  Most evening's there are people climbing there.  So you don't have to bring a rope or draws.

Imperial World, Big-C on Lad Prow Road - has a 10 metre roped wall inside. There are top ropes on the wall but there are also draws there if you wish to lead.  Its 100 baht per time to use, thats about one pound fifty.  Its open everyday.

if you are just staying a night or tow in Bangkok and want to do some climbing in the kasam road area there is one small rope Wall in an alley, about in the middle. they are open from 5 pm( it's allsow a bar). climb some and drink some:) discount if you bring your own gear.
