I thought this was pretty newsworthy. On his last day in Switzerland James flashed Ganymede Takeover at Brione, Ticino. He climbed it from the original low start, which some other ascentionists were unable to do because of the high sand level on the beach. Flash..... ahhh ahhh :dance1:

8b/V13 isn't it? Boy, he must be keen.
Excellent effort.

I would like to see the video.......
Just not enough to register with FreakyYanks.com. Even the anal people of bleau info let you watch their vids without logging on. What gives? >:(
-
dunno, i realised i was already registered from years ago cosI know one of the guys who runs that site.

should we change the definition of newsworty in his case?
his routine seems pretty damn high level.
:o :o :o :o
ps. its so funny seeing the titles of the threads and just wait a few seconds before reading it just to figure out what could be the news from pearson ;D
-
Top effort yoot. Sounds like you had a good trip! Shame about failling to flash the flight home ;)

was thinking the same thing - unless we put a 'only V14 flash and above' news block on Keenus we'll be reporting his movements every time he touches rock ;)

Think its 8a+. Good effort youth.
-
Dave Graham gives it 8b on 8a.nu. Rumour is that the ground level goes up and down as it's on a riverbed, so most people don't do Dave's original start. Sounds like James did though. Top effort!
Looking forward to Rhys's next DVD...

Thanks for the kind words.
Here is a picture

r-man is on the money with the sand level knowledge. Sometimes the low holds are completely covered, hence the confusion.
-
Wow This guy eats BIG numbers for breakfast   :beer2:
-
Delicious again Peter. Where abouts at Brione is this problem? Hang on, no its obvious. Must have been cold down by the river? Well done anyway...
-
nice one onki
-
is brione worth a look, or is it just for uberwads who can really pull?
and where the boulders are? i guess near the river but where?
-
I went to Brione about 4-5 years ago. It's an ace crag, lots to do throughout the grades. We got shown round by some locals (Tresch brothers), but it seemed very obvious where to go. Sorry, I guess you were after something more specific than that.
-
Don't mean no dis'respec' (effort etc.) but those tick marks look like the crag's been attacked by Freddy Kruger.

If you do think it's 8a+ James, then I like the vicious circle/ love triangle ;) of you downgrading Dave's problem, Dave downgraing Rich's route, and, well Rich downgrades everything so as well as the Keen Roof counterclaiming he must have downgraded sommat of yours in the past.
-
I'll bow to the knowledge as well, but Marcus makes the extra moves up to the heel hook look about english 6b. You'd probably still take the tick wouldn't you?

you must be thinking of somewhere else, its not that easy to find and what is there is well spread out.
go to brione, park just before the bridge on the left. go up the steps and follow the track till you get to the red house in the little village. turn left and the boulders will start to appear just after the small village
-
cheers jim!!!
thank you.
still dunno whether ill go, but its nice to have options and something to flash!!!

I think the highlighted phrase might give a clue as to why I thought it had a very straightforward approach.
As for it being spread out, I don't remember walking any great distances. Maybe we didn't see it all? It was definitely Brione though - I'm not that senile (yet).
-
Stonking effort james. Went a while ago and managed to flash the excellent Frogger and climb the problem on the right. Had i go on Gany.... but i valued me tips as we were in middle of the trip, a quality pair of minging crimps eh?
-
Thanks Gaz, frogger is awesome. The crimps are small and I had also dismissed them on previous trips as skin shreaders. My skin was already shredded, and it was the last day, so nothing to loose
