Anyone broken their scaphoid? Did mine on Friday (L-hand). What was your experience on the recovery/healing process? I really need to be able to drive so don't want a pot on. Cheers.

Andy get it set and get a pot on it ASAP!!!!!
Friend of mine broke it snowboarding and didn't get it fixed for about 3 months. Apparently it's the only bone in the body where blood flows in and out of the same end, so the end effectively "dies" unless it is set immediately. This makes it weak and prone to arthritis in later life. She really suffers with it now and has had to stop climbing. Sort it out.

That's me told! It is in a brace and I'm going to fracture clinic this afternoon (went to minor injury clinic at the time), so I'll see what they say but for various reasons I really, really need to be able to drive for the next few weeks.
-
Can you borrow/hire/swap your car for an automatic? Failing that, it's not that hard to drive a manual with one hand - I did it for a few weeks after dislocating my (left) elbow - sounds like you need to make sure you get the wrist fixed properly in any event...
-
have an automatic already luckily. I'm sure I can drive with a pot on - its the insurance that is an issue
-
Yup, insurance is an issue check it out. Her solution at the time was to put an oven glove over the pot, in case she was stopped. Like The Bill wouldn't ask questions about that. ::)
Andy, your choice, but ask yourself if it's worth it? See what the clinic says.

Hurrah - not broken was the verdict this afternoon. Thanks to all for the input
-
Good news! Mind me asking what you did to it?

This is so embarassing - on my board. Reaching round the lip, greased off suddenly, spun round and missed the mats with my left hand.
