Apologies for posting here as well as ukclimbing:
A friend had his car broken into over the weekend from which about £2000 worth of gear was nicked.
The car was parked just behind Whithington high street in Manchester and the theft seemed to be premeditated as CD's, radio and a backpack full of books were all left.
Could you kindly look out/keep your ear to the ground for some the following,
23x Black diamond flexi friends
30x Cong? karibeeners (sp?)
10x random quickdraws
1x Black diamond harness
2x pairs of 5.10 anastazi velcros
7x screw gates
..... the list goes on to include some pulleys, atc's, rucksac (low alpine, green) .....
Most of the gear was bought in the U.S. or Germany so is easily identified by the owner.
Any advice/knowledge is greatly appreciated.

it wasnt me, there were no crashpads.
seriously, im sorry about that. bad bad karma for the future user/seller of stolen gear.

Cheers Nibile,
Bad karma indeed!

Sorry to hear that, that sucks.
I presume you / he will be informing local climbing walls, climbing clubs, outdoor centres, outdoor shops, general second-hand shops and monitoring E-Bay?
We had our gear bags nicked from a camper in New Zealand, passed lots of information to the police and above parties. A year later they found someone trying to sell on the gear, and we got about 75% of it sent back - word. So it was worth them monitoring second-hand sales in the area.

...and some of you have been slagging off London... ::)

Fuck me, that's some major theft... I didn't think climbing was that much of a target for theft... better not leave my mat out overnight any more!
-
that said, when a mate of mine got robbed they stole his bouldering mat...
...to make carrying the plasma screen out of the house easier.
Fuckers.

thieving bell ends, hope they get theirs in a large painful way

damn shame, but at least this post reminded me to check my insurance before my chuffing trip this weekend..
they assured me that my rack and ropes would be covered against theft at all times, but specifically stated that they would NOT be covered "whilst i was using them"...but hey, kudos to the scally that can nick my gear half-way up Scafell...
