Title: Moving O/S onto a separate hard disk
Post by: underground on March 15, 2006, 09:38:09 am
I think I know the answer is 'no' already but it's worth asking.

Does any one know if it is possible to install a new hard drive into an existing setup and re-install the primary O/S onto it, effectively shifting the C: drive physically from one drive to the other?

Edit: Without it all going wrong....

Not sure you can do it like that, but you should be able to use something like Norton Ghost or Acronis Backup to burn your C: partition to a DVD(s) image, then swap hard drives and install from the image onto the new drive.

Never done it myself.
