Title: my achilles heel...
Post by: Gee24 on January 30, 2006, 08:26:26 pm
whilst standing on a smear last weekend my foot popped, hit my pad from 4foot with all my tension in my RHS and compressed my achilles into my leg, leaving lots of nasty bruising and a calf torn, anyone else had this, and how long was recovery? I'm off to Font for a month at the end of feb.

If its a gastrocnemius tear, 3-6 weeks is about the norm, these can help but be careful:
-Heel lift (1/2 inch)
-Calf sleeve
-Isometric calf contractions in plantar flexion
-Gentle calf Stretching
probably  worth resting a week or two, before starting, and of course getting a diagnosis :)
