Title: Thor's Cave topo
Post by: Bonjoy on September 19, 2005, 11:52:05 am
Thought i'd start a new topic for this one.
Here it be, the fruit of my labour. Hope some of you manage to get over there so I can get some second opinions on grades and stars, as I find it well hard to be objective about my own doings. Figuring out how hard or good stuff is when you have only been on your own routes and projects for six weeks gets pretty tricky. Feel free to hit me with the hard truth if you think anything is out.

Nice.
Good work with doing all the bolting and producing a topo. The new topo makes more sense than the photo topos in the other topic, which really didnt make sense!

It's pretty confusing with various lines of aid bolts crisscrossing the roof too.

Tried to be conservative with the starring, but the climbs felt too good to give any less!

LOL, most confusing topo ever - is that looking up, down, or through hyperspace   ??

Don't worry I know that's due to the layout of the cave not your drawing   What the dark area in the top left out of interest?

P.S. In case you didn't see: http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?n=147389 the kudos is phenomenal  :o

Is there potential for long foreign >9a style uber link ups?  Or at least a `la movement perpetual' inspired, contrived link up?

The dark area is a pillar with a through tunnel in it (should have labelled it as a pillar really, but it's obvious if you are in there).
There is potential for various weird link ups. The limiting factor would probably be rope drag from going round corners

Was there yesterday. Noticed the start of the aid line up the right (looking in) arch of the cave was cleaned, chalked and had a ringbolt lower off. Anyone know any details so I can add to topo??
Have made a few tweaks and additions to the topo (see edited first post), including a name for the new 7c+, Spear of Odin.

Went to the cave on Tuesday. The seepage has arrived big time and everything wet. I guess that's the end of play for this year. Hope '06 is another dry one!
