Hi fellas,
Thought I'd let you guys know that I left Leeds College of Bouldering just over a month ago. I opened a shop in Pateley Bridge (near Brimham) and guess what I am stocking bouldering gear. Franklin mats are here (although I've just sold out of drop zone II's), chalk, tape etc.
5.10 will be here when the order gets sorted.
I also have the Slipstones & Whitehouses guides printed off from Yorkshiregrit.com of which half the money goes to Jons site.
The shop is only small and the stock is changing as a sell the old stock through, so if your in the area please call by, if only for a brew and a chat.

Good effort, a brave move. Hope it works out well.

Cheers, I should of said there is a web site on the way, but I'm still getting a few lessons.
And the shops name, Sypeland Outdoors.

I hope we can all swing a tasty discount for being your best online homies.
Hope it goes well. Maybe pateley bridge will be the new sheffield. "my house to brimham in 15 minutes, NO TEN MINUTES!! NO FIIIVE MINUTES!!!! FIIIVE MINUTES DRIIIIVE"

Yeah, good efffort FH....btw, why didn't you just use your FH username?
Send us the site url when you build it, and I'll link you.

Maybe big frank is going for the full re-invention bit.
Best of luck FH, will swing by if we are in the area (not too long I hope)

Fantastic - I really hope it does well. In these days of Tescos' £2b profits the thought of niche shops run by enthusiasts makes me almost misty eyed (I have the same sentimental response to small breweries!).
Is it easy to find, i.e. on the main road? If not it might to useful to post the address (or just the postcode so can then use streetmap etc).
-
Will you have spotters for hire.I've several projects at brimham i need one for.
-
Re FH and Big Frank, decided that those two characters have upset a few in the past and now that I am having to make a living from selling gear I'd best turn over a new leaf.
Thanks for all the +ve responses.
Webbo, it's half way down the high street next to the post office. One man and his dog, we can be hired as spotters though, two pints of landlord and a packet of pork scratchings for the dog.
-
What, so you're going to be all nice and responsible now, or are you still going to troll as Big Frank

all you need to do now is get hold of those bruce lee cordless t shirts. (anyone any clue where one is avaliable???)

Chappers,
I have the new Franklin powder tee and the Black Diamond Dark Side, which is based on Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon album cover, on the back at the top it Black Diamond written over some brick work re The wall style.
If the Short Span want a UK outlet for his T's he could give me a shout.

I couldn't quite believe my eyes for a moment then, good on you FH.
I'll definately pop in next time I'm up that way.

That sure is one thirsty dog.
Good luck Francis.
I'll be bigging you up online whenever anyone mentions Pateley Bridge
which might cause some confusion in the Knitting and Crochet forums I also use [/i] [/color]

I guess UKClimbing would charge you to advertise?
But you can get into their database for free...

I would have thought that 'Pulling the Yorkshire Pudding' would have been a good name for the shop. ;-)
Good luck with the new business, I'll pop in if up that way.

if you're looking to stock some cool threads check out www.navuku.com - they're looking for outlets at the moment. [/shamelessplug]

Pulling the yorkshire pudding, I must know you? How else would you know about that fine route at Arapiles.

You should do. Initials JC.
Is it a climbing shop, or what else are you selling?

JC, I'm glad there is not a T on the end!
Still stumped to who it is?
All ya walking gear, and getting caving gear for anyone who needs it. Only had enquiries up to now.
Drop zones now back in stock. Nearly sold one with in 10 minutes of putting it on display this morning!
-
you can't make a living "nearly" selling things can you?

Aint no T, he is a nice guy. http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/profile.php?id=262 . Or did you not think of looking there? Wears glasses. Has very neat hair, and an uncanny knack of looking immaculate after a day of climbing, when the rest of us look like binmen. Mind you I often look like a binman at the start of a day climbing.
-
Francis, remember the early days of Rocktalk? I scanned and sent you a copy of your route in 'Rap' guide book.
I know, I'm sad, I read guide books and came across your name.
I don't think we've ever met in the flesh though.
J :-)
-
Oh yeh. I'd forgoten about that. I see there is an article about the Piles in this months Climb.
Happy days!
-
Hey Francis, I was trying to big up your shop, what's it called again and what's your phone number?
J :-)
