Where would you go for letting the kids go scrambling up rocks? They won't be in climbing shoes but I could take a pad. Preferably no steep drops around the boulders, etc. Brimham probably fits but I'm put off by crowds / paying to park.

How old are the kids?
Brimham is the place. I haven't paid to park there for a number of years.

Thanks Will. Perhaps we will just have to go to Brimham. The kids are 7 and 4, and depending on whether the wife comes we may have the 1 year old with us too.

Shipley Glen?

Not long returned from family hols in Yorkshire. My 9 year old daughter came out to Almscliff with me and she had a great time (I did too!). + Short walk in and plenty of easy angled shorter rocks around for her.
-There are definitely some big drops if the chidlers were to walk around the back of the bigger crags there. Depends where you set up I guess and how vigilant you are. It all felt very safe to me and less nooks and crannies to get lost amongst than Brimham.

Is the cave still accessible at Almscliff? I'm not sure I'd fit through anymore.

Shipley Glen?
This is also a decent option. Plenty of rocks along the top and bottom of the crag that are doable in trainers. Even more so when they take to rock shoes.
