I know that this has happened to dense and to me and i suspect to greg c (at the bees). so the scenario. you diligently clean some scrotty piece of lichen infested rock, make repeated trips and get closer and closer to that first ascent and then finally top out. a litttle elation perhaps, a cheer or at least a little self confidence that you are not quite as whack at climbin as you thought. you anounce your hard earned achievements to the world, only for some obscurity to annoiunce that they beat you to it.
Are you
a) pissed off
b) not pissed off.
after a little reflection i am gonna tick the not pissed off box. i had the experience of a first ascent even if it was not a first ascent.
discuss.

i'm annoyed but not really that bothered :? because it's just too easy to say i did it years ago. personnally i think there's a lot of bullshitting going on in climbing

if its a good problem then it shouldn't matter if it was a 1st ascent or 1000th ascent.
if it does matter, then by deffinition its probably a shit problem.

I thought for a while that I'd done the first ascent of Spare Rib, along with a few others. Would've been nice, but I've still done the problem which is what counts.
