Eh up hive mind. Any knowledge on getting fitted wardrobes done ie companies to trust/avoid like the plague/ local tradespeople (sheffield)?
Looks like a minefield of glossy companies intent on ripping me off...

I got two quotes for fitted wardrobes in a loft. Hammond's was astronomical but Supafit reasonable and locally recommend.
Ended up doing an IKEA hack job myself for a fraction of the price.

We had a joiner knock up something for a couple of hundred quid (from memory, it was ten years ago). Used internal doors which he cut in half lengthwise so they bifold, softwood and plywood frame, mdf shelves.
Not the prettiest but looks ok with the doors shut and perfectly functional, just couldn't bring ourselves to splash daft amounts for veneered chipboard.

Our built in wardrobes were horrible, badly designed, useless storage, crappy doors. We also got them ripped out, and plastered, then put in floor to ceiling IKEA systems (Possibly PAX) which took me + 1 a weekend for the basic build of bodies and doors in 3 rooms, then fitted out with shelves and hangers etc as we figure out how to fill them. Electric screwdriver recommended,

Haven't had any furniture pieces from him but Dom Lee seems to do some good work and is a super nice chap (and a climber of course!) Would be worth getting a quote from him https://dominicleefurniture.co.uk/

This is very similar to mine and where I got the idea. Not exactly basic DIY though.
