Title: More info on the liquid chalk thing
Post by: slab_happy on May 14, 2020, 08:16:08 am
A surprisingly-nuanced and detailed piece from Gym Climber:

https://www.gymclimber.com/can-liquid-chalk-protect-climbers-from-coronavirus-as-gyms-begin-to-reopen/

Alcohol percentage isn't the only issue, it appears; unbound water (not absorbed by the chalk) is also needed, and it's less effective if applied to dirty hands.

So: might be helpful, not to be relied on as equivalent to regular hand sanitizer (which is itself less effective than hand-washing).

Certainly not a replacement for washing hands - tbh I got some for my board to stop chalk getting everywhere (great tip) and only thought about the sanitising properties afterwards.
