Title: Home board holds help
Post by: jshaw on October 13, 2019, 02:55:52 pm
I've just built a small board (45 degrees, 8x8 foot). I previously had the board at about 55 degrees and realised that many of my holds are now much too easy for the new angle.

Does anyone have any recommendations for mini-slopers for a 45 degree board and likewise for small positive footholds?

I'm currently using a set of moonboard footholds but am looking for something that mimics lime / granite a little more closely.

The board has standard T nuts, widely spaced with room for screw-ons.

For good value wooden holds you could also try crusher holds, http://crusherholds.co.uk/wooden-climbing-holds.

Where do you live?

Rokt were selling off holds (pre-worn = good for skin) for £1 each. A lot of the good stuff had been plundered but I managed to get a load of the smaller, classic EP shapes.

That wouldn't be far out of my way. Is it a case of turning up at the centre and having a look?

Some of my favourite board holds have been ex-centre holds.

They're advertised on FB marketplace but I'm sure if you ring up they'll advise (they're locked away in a cupboard near the toilets and a head torch wouldn't have gone amiss when rifling).

Mega! Thanks for the info.

I'd not seen those 10mm Core screw-ons before. Was contemplating getting another set of their board feet screw-ons at some point, but these might be a better choice.

I've got a mix of the crusher dinks (medium, bolt-on), ebay wooden domes and Core board feet at the moment on my 45. Tend to use the crusher dinks most (though I have more of these anyway) and domes when I want to make moves with good hand-holds harder.

Mini Jenga bricks also make cost effective footholds

Doesn’t that make the whole thing fall down?  :-\

Given my footwork, I'd need the garden size ones.
