Title: Fire near Churnet.
Post by: mrjonathanr on July 02, 2018, 03:50:26 pm
Just leaving Alton by roadand looking back towards Churnet can see clouds of smoke over fields just to its north.

I’d check what’s up before going to Churnet this pm, didn’t look nice.

The fire is in Dimmingsdale, apparently based on Earl’s rock - still smoking today, though firepeople reckon under control and only another day’s work for them...
Red road is closed at the Oakamoor end, but open Alton end and you can get to Rambler’s, which looks normal enough apart from all the forestry vehicles and firepeople..

Will report back once figured out what the damage is..
