Title: Masson Lees Quarry Backfilled?
Post by: SamT on March 11, 2018, 08:57:56 am

Will be no great loss to climbing as far as Im concerned but heard on the caving channel that work has started suddenly and without warning to re-landscape / backfill the quarry.

This will potentially block some caves/mines of interest to us troglodytes, but also affect the climbing potentially.

Anyone any idea what's happening?

I dont have much to add except to say that I think the suggestion that the quarry is a SSSI is incorrect. On the sssi map it appears to be just outside the Masson Hill site. So no hope of protection via that route.

Mason Lees-Quarry sounds like an excellent name for a fictional character though...
