Thought I'd posted about this before but I can't find it...
We're looking at setting up an online cold storage backup for our work – the kind of thing we won't need to access unless there's a big problem (meteor strikes take out our other backups etc). I've looked at Amazon Glacier which seems OK but it looks like you might need some specific coding experience, which I'd rather avoid as I don't know who'll be administering the thing.
Wondered if anyone had any experience of this kind of thing?

Shouldn't need too much actual coding as such, should it's just a matter of getting a client configured. There are various clients that link to Glacier.

Actually, looking at it, Amazon S3 might be fine and give us a little more flexibility. I'm quite keen to use one of the big boys for future-proofing.

Fair enough, although with 250 Petabytes over 68000 hard drives Backblaze aren't exactly small (https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-failure-rates-q2-2016/), but they are a bit more focused on backup that the big players such as Google/Amazon/Microsoft etc. Worth checking the the cost calculators as they could work out a lot cheaper in the long run.

Sorry, didn't mean small as in storage, more as in business size. We might have stuff in these archival backups for decades (!).
