Title: Camp 4 problems!
Post by: unclesomebody on September 02, 2004, 09:47:32 pm
I be in the mofo USA!  and I have bad news.

News from Supertopo.com is that "in order to enforce the Camp 4 time limit more effectively (and thereby enable more people to experience Yosemite), the campground office is tracking visitation in Camp 4 with a computer system. As of..well, now, in order to stay in Camp 4 each camper must provide a valid photo ID (Driver's license, passport, etc.), phone number, and address. Once you have stayed in the Campground seven nights (any seven nights over the course of the summer), that's it, no more. Sorry, time for someone else to enjoy the Valley." Previously, it was common behaviour to sign in under different names to get around the 7-day limit.

So far all I have seen in america is fat people, fat cars, and 6 litres engines that output about 100bhp.  got to dash, i'm in a public library, and probably about to get busted for disssing the states.

peace

Its a 7-days limit over the entire summer, not just in a row.

Isn't there anywhere else to camp in Yosemite?

i was shocked they let me in too.  I had to lie to them abotu how long I was staying, what I was doing, etc etc... Still, i'm here now.  Just going to head to the five ten factory to try to get myself some cheap shoes.

anyway, does anyone know when summer ends/autumn begins?  If it's a 7 day limit then I am going to have to choose carefully before going there.

just been to five ten to buy some boots, and prices were pretty good.  $65 for a pair of V10's.  Also been to the local "gym" where i spoke to some proper stoner climbers... it was a bit lame actually.  anyway, they assured me that there are many many places to camp in Yosemite for free that are not camp 4.  So, it seems there is no reason to worry, not that most of you were...  :8)
