What's the ring ouzel t-shirt? I might be interested in getting one, but when I googled, all I found was this bizarre offering:

This surely is the design for the next ukb T-shirt?
Gutted this clashes with the Alpine club lecture at Outside, looks like a cracker.
Looking forward to the quiz coming up on here, who is quizmaster?
Looking forward to the quiz coming up on here, who is quizmaster?
Mark20, Rob Greenwood and myself.
In interests of diversity I'm afraid to say that an encyclopedic knowledge of the 1989 Stanage guide and The Power of Climbing probably won't be enough to seal victory this year.

1991 Froggatt too yeah?
:2thumbsup: Highlight of a miserable November day stuck at work. Will you be trying to outdo Offwidth on quiz length this year?
I've never produced a quiz (you have to win it first and the winning tables have been knowledge monsters) I've just 'pushed' it as I was so impressed with the quality in recent years. The other point I've been impressed with is the area committee and the quiz sponsors managing to get prizes for most of the teams, but I have a conflict of interest in that area so am less noisy about it. Its all a great fun celebration of what we love and partly a thank you for the local area efforts keeping things accessible.
Stick the powerpoint on Dropbox or google docs, set to "Public"?

It's looking like I'll still be working away until late tomorrow, gutted
Would anyone like to advise a luddite on the easiest way to upload the quiz after tomorrow night? It's currently in powerpoint?Think you can export individual slides out of Powerpoint as JPGs. Try save as and change the filetype. You'll need to bung them somewhere like flickr you can then embed. Good work by they way.
Thanks
I'm shit at Anagrams
Fervent Sob Act - Steven or Stefan somebody??

question 8: Leo Holding on the left?
question 4: Cyanide and Happiness - The Rope. Panda and a Piano
That question was the cause of much head scratching and puzzled expressions last night, perhaps reflecting the age profile of the room....
....but I can confirm that not only are you 100% correct, but that I just found and watched the video in question, and I am now officially a member of the yoof.
;D
question 13: Roaches (lower tier, standing on top of Valkyrie?) and Tittesworth resevoir
also is question 15 the sloth?

re Q11, you will be getting a letter from my copyright lawyers very soon :tease:
The answer is a load mouthed pot bellied dwarf, the silly fucker knacked his ankle on something like day 3 of a 2 week trip to the Peak, this was when he was still at school! September 1983 I think.
Has Q9 been answered? It's J-Moff on Edge Lane isn't it?
Has Q9 been answered? It's J-Moff on Edge Lane isn't it?
Not that I can see. Right route, wrong climber I'm afraid.

It's Wolfgang Gullich
RE: Question 11 - I dunno who it is but are they jumping off Froggatt pinacle?

It's Richie Patterson (see above) but yes, have a bonus point for Froggatt pinnacle.
I'm off out for the afternoon. I'll review any answers and post up the last 10 questions later.

It is. A lot of people said Moffatt or Mark Leach
There is a Moffatt related question that no one seems to have answered yet

You want to get yourself to the peak area quiz next year!

Was I the only one in the quiz to actually get this... or did one of the 30 odd members of Sharks team get it also.. :jab:

Is Q5 the first one the pub by Rivelin? Norfolk Arms?
Is "Come on Arms, don't let me down now" from Ron on Lord. I know he asked them to "do their stuff" but recall some other babble when he was a bit higher too.

Point for Ron but you fell into the deliberate trap with the route I'm afraid. Clue, it's in the Peak.
Will - Both right. The first one's not that easy even with a map.
GUess it must be The Prow then?

I think if anyone is intent on beating shark and his cast of thousands
GUess it must be The Prow then?
Close (very close), but no cigar.
Much closer than Darius anyway.

3rd go, then I'll call it quits - I hadn't realised this was according to repeatability according to on peak rock
Q18 Highest to lowest
Revelations; the end of the affair; Knockin' on heaven's door; Mecca, the mid-life crisis; Hubble; Parthian shot
Is 20 Millstone?
25 is the Cat and Fiddle on the A537.
In hindsight the quiz was probably pitched a little bit hard.
Nonsense. The table distributions need sorting out for next year (it wasn't all UKB fault as a certain BMC exec joined that table) but the best team only got about twice the points of the worst and the hillwalker table did OK, so I'd say spot on. Pretty much everyone got a prize and I liked taking the tiny (less than a fraction of a person, cf the millions in team UKB?) bottom team up second.
I think the UKB table would have still won if there was only a certain 4 people on it (myself not included) :-[.
I'd forgotten about this. A few guesses on old ones :-
Q2: Kinder, Woodhead, Edale, Buxton, Glossop (reasonably sure on these) plus somewhere south Peak (Matlock?) and somewhere for Chew/Black Hill (Holmfirth, Uppermill?)
Q17: Ullswater, Thirlmere, Wastwater, Buttermere
Shauna: over-caffeinated sugary drink company. Motivation and encouragement neatly contained in a can. Perfect for those morning sessions that feel impossible
In reply:
Caff: Only a tramp would have that in the morning
Q2: Kinder, Longendale, Edale, Buxton, Glossop, Matlock, Oldham?
Q19: Looks like Dovedale, so is the hill Thorpe Cloud? I'll guess Tissington Spires for the crag.
Q21: Brown's Crack at Ramshaw (Joe), don't know the other. Yes
Tissington Spires and maybe Stoney for John Peel Yes and Yes
Stanage for one of the Overhanging Cracks Yes
Q22: The reservoir below Dovestones Edge? Can't remember the name What, you mean Dovestone reservoir ;)
Q24: Kilian Jornet and Al Rouse, don't know either book name. Yes and Yes

Indeed. Props to Rob Greenwood for that question
