Title: Zen-Mate Proxy Switcher Add On
Post by: GraemeA on March 03, 2015, 07:22:21 pm
I am looking for a method that will allow people to watch the CWIF on YouTube in certain countries where live-streaming is banned for stupid music licensing reasons (we pay our PRS etc dues so aarrgghh).

I have been recommended Zen-Mate. So does anyone know

1) How legal is it ie should we be publicly advocating using it

and

2) Anyone know of alternatives that are better in all senses (ie legality, ease of use and speed of download)

Ta muchly

I have no idea about Eire, but then again they'll be too busy enjoying the 6N highlights  :-*
Actually I have no idea about this what so ever.

You are better off recommending peple wanting to watch it to use a program that gets around blocks, or use a chrome or firefox addon that does the same job. There are plenty of them out there and that way you are free of any legal issues as recommending the use of these (legal) programs isn't an issue. this article is good

In summary: tell people to install Hola if they want to watch CWIF, you are not liable in any way that I can see, and who exactly is it that is going to bring damages against you? You're the copyright holders, so it's up to you what you do with your content.

Zen-Mate is a Chrome Add-On

Germany has restrictions on live streaming YouTube because of music licensing issues. We are streaming onto the IFSC's website so us encouraging people to flirt with copyright law might not go down well with the IFSC.

maybe just post some stuff on a popular bouldering forum so that people will find it via Go Ogle?

To an extent...why worry about it?

If people in countries where it is blocked want to watch it they'll look up the ways round it themselves.

People do it with for example streaming football, no reason why those interested in climbing wouldn't find a way around this.

Because last year we were getting emails etc from Germany complaining they couldn't watch. Law abiding chaps them Germans  ;)

Could also get an "anonymous" Twatter/Farcebook account setup and use hashtags when its broadcast saying "If you're having trouble streaming this in your country then use plugin XYZ".

Then the law-abiding Germans can ignore it since its "not legal" for them to circumvent such blocks.

It was a law abiding German that told me about Zenmate, maybe he can use one of his Anon Twatter/FB/Climbing.de accounts to publicise. Now why didn't I think of that!!!
