New instructions
Forget the old shit, now use the gallery (http://ukbouldering.com/gallery/index.php) instead.
If you're logged in here, then you'll automatically be logged into the gallery, so create an album for your pics, then just upload them from your pc.
When they've been approved, they will apper in the gallery.
Please try to keep them <200 k max per image.

Nice one Bonjoy - have moved this to support and stickyfied it.
Just to state the obvious, once you've found the location of the image you want, paste it into your post, select the text you've just posted, and then click the "img" button above the post area.
This should enclose the image location in (http:// ) tags which tells the forum software to actually display the image, rather than it's url.

nice one...
Dear tech doctors, I've scanned some photos in (yes, I still use a camera, with film and everything!) but I've somehow come away with 'bitmap' files.
Are these wack? How do i get them to be jpegs or whatever?
(I am a complete computer bozo BTW)
-
Only problem with bmp s are the size - any photo manipulation program will allow you to save as a jpeg with varying degrees of compression.
-
Its probably just my computer but as any1 else finding i hard to enlarge the pictures in the photo section. :?
-
Seems ok to me - have you got javascript enabled? If you can see the navigation bar at the top of the page then you will have.
The photo gallery is being moved over to here (http://ukbouldering.com/gallery) now anyway, so your problem will go away when it's sorted.
-
I was trying to upload some pictures and I'm a bit confused. The phots are pretty big, so I changed the dpi size, then saved it again. The file size went from 376kB up to 1.2 MB, when I was expecting it to get smaller, as I was saving a smaller image.
If this is not the way to do it, how do you reduce the file size? I was using a free download of IrfanView.
-
did you do anything daft like saving as a bmp or something?
basically,on the tinternet you can only display images up to 73dpi, so if you save anything at more than that it will just be viewed bigger than it should. or just change the dimensions of the image.
-
Daft as a brush I am. Yeah, it saves automatically as a bmp when you go to "save as". Cheers Dave.
-
Ok, so how do I find the pictures I sent in, or have they not been uploaded yet?
-
The old system has now been scrapped - you need to add them to the gallery (http://ukbouldering.com/gallery/index.php) instead now - sorry!
-
I assume the photo section is knackered due to the new forum being installed? Can someone pm me when it is working again?
-
The gallery is working fine again now....
-
At the risk of sounding dense, I cant find where to do it. If i go to "Media" then "Photos" all i get is
"You have requested a page that no longer exists - please use the toolbar to navigate to a current page."
This was how i got to the gallery before, how do i do it now.
"Sir I dont understand"
-
Ah, sorry - you need to go to:

Now.

Some right weirdness in those galleries... Like Bonjoy's full of saucy old climbing ads....and Bubba's full of....ah, ummm, darius's cock (incidentally, my brother went to uni with Darius just before his so-called music career, and said he was quite a cock then....).
Also some good photos too...
-
There's only one of Darius' cock
actually, I thought they were in my private gallery....quickly runs off to set permissions....
-
I was using the gallery as a host area so I could link to the pics in threads. Perhaps the gallery could have an specific area for this sort of thing to avoid cluttering up the climbing gallery with pictures of giants apples, prolapses, lolly-pop ladies etc.
-
I think you can set up more than one personal gallery, so why not have one for climbing and one for non-climbing pics?
All the weird stuff should never make it into the main gallerys though.
-
Splendid, that sorts that one.
-

Now.
Ok, now I'm feeling like a right numpty. How do I upload pictures once I get there?
He says feeling like a total tit.
-
Float cursor over the @ symbol and upload options will appear. A bit counter intuitive I reckon.
-
Yeah, that is a bit odd - probably easy to fix....I'll add it to the long list..
-
B-man, out of interest, does it hurt your bandwidth / hosting / bills etc to have more photos on??
-
Photos take up space and bandwidth but hey, that's part of what this website's for so I'm happy to host as many high quality bouldering pics as I can...
-
Sorry to be a fool, but how do I post photos on here?

A search for "Posting Pictures", quickly found Slack-line's guide to posting photos (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,6411.0.html)
