A not infrequent problem I have with shoes is peeling heel rubber, usually a result of hooking lippy crozzles and pebbles etc.
At the moment this is a problem with my current pair of Boostics and Bouldrini slippers. On the one hand I tend to think "fucking manufacturers" but at the same time, if you're going to transfer most of your body weight onto sharp little gabbro razors via a heel what can one expect?
With this in mind, I was wondering if anyone has had a go at a DIY fix for this kind of problem? Any useful material and methods you'd be willing to share would be very helpful.
Cheers!

Shoe goo.

Cheers, I'll give it a whirl. Does it work long term?
-
Don't know I'm afraid - but it's what I've used and been recommended

Shoo goo and similar won't work long term, but it's quite good and the best thing I've found for this type of shit.

What about the really toxic glue you get in the stealth paint kit? I think you can buy it online from overseas, but it is quite pricey and, erm, really toxic.

Blackwitch.
Seems to last. Really meant for patching wetsuits, but damn strong and mega waterproof (it's the damp toxic emissions from feet that undo most shoe repairs..).

Cheers. I've ordered both. In the interests of a simple empirical test I'll put shoe goo on the L Scarpa and R Bouldrini and vice-versa for the blackwitch. We'll see which one stands up to more gabbro abuse.

You can only climb symmetrical system problems in those.

Luckily I have a moorland gabbro systems circuit in mind, replete with cruxy heel hooks. (Bad) Science.
