Title: Live music 2013
Post by: aLICErOBERTSfANkLUB on March 14, 2013, 12:06:16 pm
So. Off I hoved to see Stiff Little Fingers at the Plug, Sheffield on Tuesday night - solely driven by the fact that The Men They Couldn't Hang were in support; had they not been, I'd've probably looked, gone "Hmm", and not bothered.

And they were superb.

A definite "must see" according to this correspondent.

Nine inch nails have announced they are doing leeds fest. I am hoping they do other dates so I can go see them again.
I really don't want to go to leeds fest unless I have to £97 for a fucking day ticket  :wank:

For the Husker Du/Sugar fans on here, Bob Mould is touring in May. I've got Leeds tickets, but he's also doing Manchester Academy a few days later.

Also looking forward to Tom McRae in York.

I'm off to Primavera  (http://www.primaverasound.es/cartel) in Barcelona this Summer.  An amazing lineup.

Swans, MBV, Dinosaur Jr, The Postal Service, Wu Tang, Bob Mould, Fucked Up, Death Grips, Four Tet, JAMC, The Breeders, Liars, The Knife, Nick Cave, Om, Neurosis, The Sea and Cake, Shellac, Tame Impala, Do Make Say Think and more.  All in the sunshine on May Bank Holiday.  Can't wait.

Positively wetting myself already. So far the summer holds: Swans, John Cale, Low, Midlake, Roy Harper, Band of Horses, The Pastels, Sigur Ros, David Byrne and St Vincent, Dinosaur Jr, Villagers, Belle and Sebastian, and a whole pile of other things that I don't know yet but am sure will be brilliant.

The Primavera line-up is amazing; particularly jealous of Nick Cave, Shellac and Do Make Say. Will have to make sure I see Bob Mould in Manchester. Pere Ubu are playing Liverpool soon too.

So far this year Dinosaur Jr in Manc in Feb: best I've ever seen them, not a band going through the motions at all. Great set list too.

Richard Hawley, Liverpool: don't know his stuff but went with an open mind. He was absolute shite, dire. At least I hadn't paid for my ticket.

First Festival No. 6 announcement made (http://www.festivalnumber6.com/ (http://www.festivalnumber6.com/)): very underwhelming on the music front at the minute but guess it could well improve.

Too right, I'll be picking up some supplies at the farmers market on the way........

Ben/Andy, how child friendly is Festival No6? (5 month old?). The music does look a little underwhelming in general but it looks like my sister might be singing, I shall have to check.

There were plenty of kids there but I didn't see any babies.  Not that I would have noticed mind.  I wouldn't want to camp with a little one as it's very hilly and it got a bit slippy and muddy in places.  They do have a van area but I believe you have to book early to get a pitch.  Moving around the village itself would be fine and there are plenty of toilets etc.  It wasnt too busy last year but they didn't sell the full ticket allocation so it may be much busier this year.

Dave and Sam ended up striking their tent after night one and then parked up the van near Tremadoch and just came on site for the day/evening.  Might be an option?
