The science bit I was referring to was the now near separate high and low speed compression circuits found on BOS, cane creek and to an extent Fox shocks allows for a very deep starting sag, that no longer blows through travel. That, with a brake anchored to the chain stay, not seat stay gives a lessened brake jack and increased grip when braking.
I then can't help thinking the now astronomical costs for multi linkage bikes is one I can't justify.
