Title: Another bike shop in Sheffield
Post by: Dolly on February 01, 2013, 09:46:14 am
Evans are opening on Quuen's Road by the look of it.
Quite a lot of competition within a few hundred yards - Edinburgh, JE James, good old Butterworth, Recycle bikes.
Not that far from Decathlon either

JE James is hardly competition.

9th Feb, opp B&Q.

http://www.evanscycles.com/stores/sheffield (http://www.evanscycles.com/stores/sheffield)

They are already on Google Maps! (in the wrong place)

Not too excited, Evans always seems pricey when I go in stores down south.

You pay a premium as you move towards the equator!

Evans do price match. However they clearly don't expect anyone to use it, as they seem quite shocked when you point it out. They seem to be hoping that because they've got it, you will belive their prices are the cheapest.

There's also somewhere new down Shalesmoor, http://www.over-ride.co.uk/1.html. (http://www.over-ride.co.uk/1.html.)

Not sure how long they've been there.

Me neither Dave, as long as CRC stil accept paypal. I love the Bike Tree until I actually want to buy something and then find they only have xxs in luminous grey or some such shit... it must be really hard for bricks and mortar bike shops to compete on retail sales. I expect they do a lot of trade on repairs and servicing.

Popped in today to have a nosey, huge shop, goes right back into a workshop area. Car park next to Screwfix carpark, not sign posted yet. Seemed pretty well stocked, maybe a bit short on clothes, fairly limited range at the moment. Fair range of bikes right up to £5k road and downhill ones.

Pick of a quick browse: Nice carbon road bike with Di2 for under £2k.

I'd rather go climbing than repair/service my bike and clocked Russels Bicycle Shed (mobile repairs) (http://www.russellsbicycleshed.co.uk/) flyer on the way out of the Foundry.  Anyone used his services?

And they only price match certain other shops - http://www.evanscycles.com/help/price-match (http://www.evanscycles.com/help/price-match)

P.S. Gravity Dropper seatposts on CRC for 33% off.
