For some reason, I've signed up to do a half iron man in June next year and I reckon the cycle leg is long enough for tri bars to actually make a difference. Besides, they look cool. So, I'm after some beta on clip on bars e.g. size, style, fit etc. from anyone with experience.
Hit me up.

I've got some basic but decent ones in the shed I'd be happy to send you for the postage. I'll have a look and see what they are tomorrow. Unless you want some fancy ones..

That's very kind of you Sam. I'm definitely interested.
Gotta love UKB!

These are the ones I have: Tranz something or others, described by Bikeradar as "a solid starter low profile". Might be enough to get you started, give you a chance to work out what you hate before you buy some proper ones.

I would be happy to post them to you for 5 quid.
If you want them PM me your address and I'll get them in the post.

I'm pretty fresh to all this tri' malarky myself, but I have seen quite a few threads on TriTalk forums about getting the right setup (stem height, moving seat forward etc...) to get most from the tri-bars. Might be worth a search on there if you haven't already.

An important point to appreciate is that an efficient aero possition isn't comfortable.
You have to train in that position for your body to get used it.

Hence my decision to get some tri bars!

Joe Friel agrees with you (http://www.joefrielsblog.com/2012/10/how-can-i-do-a-faster-ironman.html) (at least for full Ironman races)
An Ironman is a bike race with a swim warm-up and a jog to the finish line

The Velominati disagree:
Rule #42
// A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
If it’s preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run, it is not called a bike race, it is called duathlon or a triathlon. Neither of which is a bike race. Also keep in mind that one should only swim in order to prevent drowning, and should only run if being chased. And even then, one should only run fast enough to prevent capture.
