Trying to make up our minds as to what sort of hob we want in the new kitchen.
I've never used an induction hob and everyone I know with one loves them.
Does anyone have one and wishes they had gone for gas or don't like it for any reason?

I've got an Induction. I love it.
This is because I don't have gas in my flat, but if I did the induction would be out in the street and I'd get a decent gas cooker.
Induction is brilliant for some things but lack the heat to make really good curry :no:

Got induction a couple of years ago, never looked back, just make sure you get a decent one. Its safe, easy to clean, efficient. Whats not to like!

Hmm.. just moved from induction to gas.. was the right move for me...

What kind of pans do you have? If you have a set of nice ones that aren't induction compatible then it will make induction a lot more expensive initially. Personally I would struggle without a proper wok on our central double burner.

I usually use gas at home. Just been on self-catered holiday using induction and hated it - suspect it was a cheap one but I wasn't keen. My Mother looked into this a year or so back & stuck with gas.
From what I can gather people into cooking prefer using gas.

There are a few things that don't work with induction eg espresso moka pots. I would go gas but have never used an induction hob.

"Now we're cooking with induction" doesn't have much of a ring to it.

"Now we're going to spend an hour disassembling the gas hob to clean the thing, including all the stuff that's spilled and burnt on" doesn't have much of a ring to it either.

thanks for the feedback. Looks like we're, going to go with gas.
We already have a good set of analon alu pans (not compatible with induction) that we were willing to trade up for some steel ones if induction was significantly better but sounds like gas is still best for what we cook.
Next question on ovens:
Steam ovens, micro combo ovens, fan ovens, gas oven etc...
We want 2 ovens with a micorwave in one and at least 1 grill element.
Suggestion on brands, models, type etc...

:agree: and proper wok cooking; and you can't tip the pan a bit and catch light to alcohol with the cooking flame; and you can't seal chopped off rope ends with induction. (well you could but it would make right mess)

Unrelated to the op, but I've a black gas hob and it doesn't get as dirty looking as quickly as the stainless ones.
Also shop around - also over a long or so as the prices seem to vary a lot. I ended up getting a NEFF hob for £110 and a Bosch oven for £250. Both great and close to 1/2 price when I got them.

In Italy everyone has gas. When I have to use induction I find it more difficult to cook, it's hardwr to control the heat and so on.
The only reason I could shift to induction is to move to Ticino.
