Title: Training diary/log exemplar wanted
Post by: mloskot on February 28, 2012, 04:01:05 pm
Hi,

I'm on hunt for a good model of climbing training diary/log.
Simply put I'm looking for a diary designed in with a bit of engineering-like systematic manner with all major elements of training included and presented/explained with logical structure, so it is clear where things come from:

- goals
- cycles
- sessions
- session patterns vs goal vs cycle
- exercises (sets, reps)
- non-climbing activities
etc.

IOW, if one wants to build a house, there is a well known pattern where to start, and what steps follow.
Similarly, I'm after an analytical and structured approach to training diary and logged training.

I have searched through all classics, linked from UKB and other forums, but there seem to be no good exemplar presented and explained.
I've seen one or two based on Google Calendar, but can't find it now.
I recall it wasn't exactly the ideal diary but there were some ideas.

I will appreciate any related pointers and ideas.
Thanks!

p.s. FYI, I have cross-posted it to UKC

That maybe of interest. I havnt tried it properly myself but looks like it has potential.

Pen and paper works pretty well though  ;)

Mentioned and linked under the training section of the Wiki too  ;)

csurfleet started work on developing phone based applications with server based synchronisation, can't be arsed looking up the thread for you I'm afraid, but haven't heard of any developments in a while.

Nice! I've known Dmitry's Klimb, but the old original version only.
Had no idea someone taken it over and pushed the development further.
I'm going to try it, definitely. Thanks!

np, I'll try to find some details.

The thing is, technology used for logging is not an issue and as mentioned, pen and paper works well.
I see challenge with "designing" log, so it is usable in future, for analysis, retrospection, etc.

If I come up with anything, I'll post it here.

Thanks!
