Title: training app for i-phones
Post by: Nibile on September 11, 2011, 07:50:50 am
a friend of mine developed this training application for i-phones and asked me to give it some visibility on here. I hope this is the right section and it's not considered spam or incorrect.
I did the english version, so if it's not clear it's my fault, not his.
seriously, I think it's pretty well done. obviously it cannot substitute a tailored training program, but it can be very useful when short on time or simply you can't be bothered to turn the brain on (most times for me).
it's based on the book "Jollypower" www.jollypower.com (http://www.jollypower.com), written by Italian beast Alessandro Lamberti.
depending on your level, and your needs, the app chooses the exercises you have to do, takes rest times, reps and so on. otherwise you can set your own session with the exercises you want. you have explicative videos and all data are then memorized and you have progression diagrams and all that.
everything is done almost "pro bono", it sells at 99 cents.
these are two links, to the Apple store and to the webpage.

I downloaded it last night so will give it a whirl over the next few weeks, looks pretty good from what i have looked at.
Bargain at £0.69 haha, just some extra ideas for when training gets repetitive.

A Guy at the depot told me he had this and said he didn't rate it that highly although it looked ok for 69p in my mind

Anyone know of a similar app for Android?

Just now I'm just recording stuff in my diary but it's fairly clogging it up!

Nope, but I had the idea of writing one a while back and using Google Calendar to save everything (in an individual calendar) and providing various longitudinal graphical summaries, not bothered starting anything yet as I've got little spare time to dedicate to it.

In light of PsycheUp.net (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,18549) it should probably tie into that though.

PsycheUp will be pointing itself squarely at the smartphone market. *geekout alert* The whole thing is being done on HTML 5 which will allow us to do nice multi-platform support. Initially it will be online only but the HTML 5 spec allows for offline data which will allow us to 'fake' a native application. The end product would then allow you to use it offline in the wall with no reception and then automatically synch to the online site later on. All this should currently be considered A Long Way Off though...

Oh, and if anyone has the smartphone app development skills and wants to help out???  :goodidea:
