Title: "New" bolting at Ty'n Twyn Quarries, Llanbedrog, Lleyn.
Post by: Falling Down on May 02, 2011, 08:23:04 pm
I took a walk around Llanbedrog headland and the Quarries on Saturday evening.  In Quarry 2, the one adjacent to the car park I found the following:

- A double bolt belay and additional single bolt belay including in-situ quickdraws and screwgates on the big ledge above 'No Strings Attached' and 'Unnamed'.

- A single bolt with a quickdraw still attached and a line of static on the ledge/slab above the thread of 'Hot Pursuit' the E1 in the centre of the wall.

There was fresh chalk all over the bottom of Hot Pursuit but none above the bolt which suggests it had been used for top roping.

I didn't have my climbing gear with me and we were leaving early Sunday morning otherwise I would've have gone back and removed the offending articles along with the long overdue removal of the bolt/chain belay on No Strings Attached. If anyone is nearby would you do the honours?

There was a bizarre line of home-made bolts in Quarry five last time I visited too, on a line of about Severe in standard.
