The Eastern Moors Partnership (between the National Trust and RSPB) which recently took on management of the Eastern Moors Estate, has been formally recommended to manage the Burbage, Houndkirk & Hathersage Moors.
The area, which encompasses the very popular climbing and walking around the Burbage Valley, is owned by Sheffield City Council (SCC) and currently managed by Kier Property Asset Management (KPAM). During the stakeholder engagement sessions run by the Eastern Moors Partnership, at the request of SCC, views were also collected on the future management of the Burbage, Houndkirk & Hathersage Moors. Following this, KPAM have recommended to SCC that they begin negotiations to lease this additional moorland area to the Eastern Moors Partnership.

This recommendation will be tabled and voted upon at a public meeting of the Sheffield South West Community Assembly, to be held 31st March, at 6pm, Tapton School, Sheffield. There will be a presentation from the NT/RSPB Eastern Moors Partnership, followed by a question & answer session and then the formal vote. If you would like to hear more about the proposal, raise issues for consideration or add your support for the recommendation, then the Partnership would welcome any members of the public that are able to attend the evening.

Bump - tonight. Turn up and your vote will mean Burbage and Hounkirk etc will be managed by the NT/ RSPB, rather than Kier. A no-brainer I think... but we do need votes to ensure it happens.

Tapton School is located on Darwin Lane, Fulwood, S10 5RG

Balls. Why didn't that work?

Because you pasted in HTML (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/HTML) which the forums don't understand, as opposed to BBcode (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/BBCode).

If I remember correctly Bubba is the only one who can embed such HTML from Google Maps (I've a vague recollectiont hat he pasted in a Streetview link of his pad when Streetview first went live and I couldn't figure out how to do it and that was the reason).

Bit of a weird scene to be honest, not been to one of these local council meetings before, and not sure I'll be rushing back...

The vote was just over whether SCC should enter discussions with the Eastern Moors Partnership, nothing more concrete than that. The meeting was busy, and despite some spirited (and at times bizarre) objections from the public, the motion was passed unanimously. We dived out and headed for the pub before we got stuck for the full meeting; others weren't so lucky.

It was a local Politics mash up that saw an Agenda Item asking if SCC should look to involve stakeholders in the decision to look at managing the Burbage, Hathersage & Houndkirk Moors. As JB said it was quite bizarre in it's delivery - however JB managed to get the BMC's thoughts in a Q&A - in that we support the Eastern Moors Management Model. As JB said - we kinda lost it after that & went pub wards to scratch our heads...
