Title: Canon FD lenses
Post by: account_inactive on August 17, 2010, 07:19:38 pm: OK people hit me with some beta. I've just bought a HV30 and it came with a DOF adapter (Jag35pro). The guy told me that it was a Canon FD fit. Are these all the same standard size so that any FD lense will fit? Also more to the point what sort of lenses do you think would be useful, intially I'm going to go with a wideangle of some description.

Assuming your DOF adaptor uses the a 35mm full frame (i'm guessing here) then for a wide you want something like a 24mm or a 28mm, shouldn't be too expensive, I think all FD lenses cost FUCK ALL these days.

might well be a good starting point, being reasonably wide (I'm assuming the focussing screen on your adaptor is 35mm?) and pretty cheap. FD lenses tend to be cheaper than similar lenses with newer mounts because they won't mount on digital bodies.

Photo shops that do second hand bits (like Harrisons on London Road, linked above) or Mifsuds, Ffordes, ebay and any photo classifieds are probably good places to look.

Totally agree, a great shop. They'll sometimes even knock a bit off the price of second hand gear if you ask nicely.
