Title: High Tor
Post by: Paul B on July 16, 2010, 09:03:32 pm
Has anybody got the knowledge on how High Tor will be handling the recent rain in terms of seepage etc. ?

I take it the windy aspect makes it quite good for the odd shower but I'd say we've had more than that today!

Seepage is rarely an issue on High Tor, at a guess I'd say it should be fine at the moment.  Dries fast after shower, but will get wet in any rain.

As you said it catches the wind and can be pretty chilly if hanging about on stances, that said at this time of year once the suns round (about 1ish I think) and if there is little breeze it will be blisteringly hot.

Does anyone have up-to-date knowledge of whether High Tor is dry? Thinking of climbing there tomorrow (ie Friday 22nd)?
Thanks. Jon

I haven't been recently but its about as dry as they come and the other crags aren't too bad really.

Thanks Paul,. My partner's just bailed out though so it looks like bouldering on grit is the order of the day. High Tor will have to wait.

Any word on how this is fairing in the recent dreadful weather? Posts above suggest seepage isn't a huge issue and that it dries swiftly in the wind but then, it has been ridiculously rainy of late. Looking at visiting on Saturday or Sunday.

For anything in particular?

Tomorrows forecast (and Sat) looks good, so likely you'd be fine.

The main face doesn't really seep at all, so it should be fine.
