Title: [Spain][Albarracin][8a]Feurte a Meurte
Post by: Bubba on April 28, 2010, 12:10:10 pm

Just reporting this from an email sent to the site.

A recent visit to Albarracin saw Leah Crane successfully complete her new 8a/V11 line. The problem involves linking an already existing 7c and 7b+ the crux's being the start moves into the first problem the actual link of the two lines.
The route name is Feurte a Meurte and has yet had no known second ascents. The new line will be in the new Albarracin guide to come out in the Autumn.

Looks like a fun linkup... (I'll not play the usual broken record here, I am thinking it).

Looks good, think Leah has done enough to know what 8A feels like.

Paul did you flash both of these problems on your trip then do this linkup footless because it was sooooo easy?

What record? Why mention it? How odd.

In fairness to Paul, the two up problems that it links are regarded by many as soft (search Ineschakra on 8a.nu to see what people think of the 7C). On the other hand, whether or not they are soft up problems, no doubt linking them up adds quite a bit. Good effort!

And no, I haven't done them either. I got lost tyring to find them.  ::)

How on earth did you manage that, the best bit about the guide is the maps!

Dunno - seem to remember it was confusing somehow. But I only had a quick scout, kept getting distracted by other problems.

Well done I say.  Chicks are finally getting it on, which is good to see (especially new ascents overseas - always worth a mention).

I got the bird in question on Facebook last week, nice one.

Good effort! Nice one Leah

Jogged my (very poor) memory! Whatever the grades of the individual problems are, it's great climbing; I wandered over to that boulder for a look while friends were round the corner and meant to come back to it, but ran out of time... it's def. worthwhile if you're in the area. It is a bit hidden I seem to remember, I kind of found it by accident

Interesting, I never saw that boulder, whihc is a shame cos I'd have been all over it like a cheap suit if I had seen it. Looks awesome.

Its not at the main bit if my memory serves me correctly (it may not). If you take the main tourist path around as if you're going to start on the Deliverance esque boulder its just off to the left of the path.

Your memory is correct. The Albarracin Topo (http://www.santablocona.nuspla.net/MES%20RESSENYES/Topos%20Albarracin.pdf) has those two problems on Page 5, no. 60, and 61, but doesn't appear to have Mardi Gras (Deliveresque) on it, but I think is the bloc with no. 58 on it.
