Toni Lamprecht is a big lad and has climbed considerably harder than 8a/8A

I have no idea , but I've climbed a bit with Mark Smith (http://betaclothing.ca/blog/?p=431) and he is burly.  He did 8a sport in a few tries and weighted almost 220 lb at the time, so 15 stone ++. Not bad ey?

Looks like we have an international winner Mark Smith (Canadian) 8b+ at 15st+ and size 16 shoes :jaw: . But are there any UK contenders or dont we grow them that big!!

The thing is absolute weight is a poor estimate because taller people will tend to be heavier.

BMI isn't ideal because muscle is heavier than fat, and most climbers operating at this grade will have a fair bit of muscle.

Perhaps if you're interested in who's carried the most excess weight up a route you should be considering the wast:hip ratio as a good indicator, but you'll find this hard to ascertain retrospectively.

Mark isn't very tall so his BMI has got to be massive.

I doubt Klem is that heavy - he's actually quite a little chap.

When I dragged my lardy ass up 8a (regardez moi, regardez moi) I was just over 13 stone.

I know it is a little silly to look at such a crude measurement as weight. But I think the conclusion you can draw from this is that you have to be exceptionally strong to climb the not so exceptional grade of 8a, if you weigh 13st+. Think i am going to have to drop the training heavy reigme/excuse and lose some pounds!!!

Polish Dave is another - 13.5 stone, a crimping demon and regular snapper of holds that never expected big hands to come near them. He's climbed 8b and 8A+ in the uk, I think bigger numbers elsewhere - but nothing outside blighty counts, does it? Goes to show, small fingers and pool-cue physiques aren't strictly necessary for bearing down on crimps the size of gnat's moustaches. Here's an example (left hand hold isn't super small, but you really have to bone it):

The blackpool car jack satisfys the criteria.

I don't mind being burned off but the guy in the picture that probes posted takes the piss, he did The art of self destruction multiple times with a weight belt on. Don't know how heavy it is but :jaw: impressive and annoying. Is this exceptable at crags? Should it not be left inside and at boards? or am i just being a  :wank:

If someone is using the crag as somewhere to train then I can't really see the problem.

People stepping in to "show you how its done" is more of a problem IMO.

Weak Sam weighs the same as I do, around 87kg*.

*at least he did a few weeks ago but he was going to cut down on his weightlifting, and thus reduce his protein intakes (he usually drops a few kg when he does).

He's got a super link up he wants to do, and he feels the belt is beneficial.  Why has it annoyed you so?

I don't know why, maybe its just put me in my place as a punter when i thought i was going well?! Assuming this guy is Sam Davenhall theres only one picture and no videos, no blogs or interviews/articles on him!! Most people would tell the world.

Can I get in on this,  I cant seem to get lighter than 14st (I'm generally 14 and a half), I'v done Ft8a+ & Fr8B+.  I could probably loose some weight if only I stopped  :beer1:

True, I have a layer of fat on me now and it wont budge, apparantly you put weight on if it's a girl (the sayings true so far) and lose it if it's a boy.  I need a couple of boys and then I'll be right so I best do more of this  :kiss1:
