Title: [Peak] [Rowtor Rocks] [7C / 7C+] Catch
Post by: Andy Harris on March 11, 2010, 08:00:28 pm
Just completed my last Rowtor Rocks project on this perfect cold sunny day.

Take the main track up to the rocks from the pub and it's on the left side of the big cave on your left (about 35m up,you know, the one with a big passage through it).

Standing start from a bad pocket(RH) & sidepull(LH), then make a hard dynamic move to the runnel (LH), hold the swing (crux), match and pop to the crozzly jug. Not the most aesthetic of lines but a great move more akin to a board problem.

Somewhere between 7c & 7c+ for me but these 1 movers are hard to grade.

Would go from a sit down but the climbing is shit so I decided not to.

Video & name to follow.

Good on Arthur. You were looking close when I left. Looking forward to the video and wondering which 80s classic ballad will be the soundtrack.

Well done Andy. It was indeed a beautiful day on the Peak grit yesterday. I look forward to having a gander next week sometime and I'm intrigued to see your latest vid. Could a mod move this to the new 'new problems' section of bouldering, as whilst I'm not doubting it as news, it'd be a good starter to a fresh part of the board that should be supported?  :)

great idea, didn't even realise there was such a section. Will also try and add it to r-man's new database

Grand! I had this down as a possibility, but assumed it would be one for a tall person. Good effort!

I suspect if you were v.tall you could eliminate the jump with a bomber heeltoe (RF) and hence make it a few grades easier. Whether tall is 6,2 or 6,6 i'm not sure.

To be honest the top is soaking & is covered in thick mossy greenery which would be a tragedy to disturb. Feel free to top out if you wish.

never mind all that topping out bollocks, surely the outrage here is that you didn't use Van Halen's Jump for the soundtrack?

Surely it should have been "Catch" by The Cure. Would have worked really well too.

Good effort Andy.
