Title: Best Albums of 90's
Post by: Dr T on December 18, 2009, 03:57:51 pm
lists seem a ukb favourite and the albums of the decade one got me thininking about the 90's
you'll have to give me a bit of a break as I had all my teenage years in the 90's so....

anyways in no particular order a top 10 albums

Nevermind - Nirvana (actually I prefer the live at Reading 92 album that's just come out - better than the tape I wore out back in the day as it doesn't have Steve Lemacq saying "you're listening to Nirvana, live from Reading, on Radio 1" every 2 songs - the live stuff just had that little bit more energy...)

Angel Dust -Faith No More

Troublegum - Therapy?

Monster - REM

Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins

Second thoughest in the Infants - Underworld

Beautiful Freak - Eels

Copper Blue - Sugar

Grand Prix - Teenage Fanclub

... And out come the Wolves - Rancid

Soul Searching Sun - Life of Agony

Dookie - Green Day

Placebo - Placebo

The Bends - Radiohead

Rage against the Machine - Rage against the Machine

The Black Album - Metallica

Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs - Ministry

Bone Machine - Tom Waits

Where you been - Dinosaur Jr

Under the Western Freeway - Grandaddy

Sorry - was going to be a top 10 but I got carried away, will stop now  :-[

(would have put some Carter USM in but hindsight shows that they were an amazing live/singles band but they never actually produced a great album - same goes for most of the Brit Pop and Madchester stuff...)

Whilst researching the above I refound Ice T's 99 problems on his home invasion album, a precursor to Jay-Z's track of the same name. Worth a listen i you have Spotify....

ah joe,
that poor idiot did more to help berlusconi come out of a difficult moment, than all of his marketing experts.
media went crazy for him, and he started talking like a martyr. for the first time i was scared to post a comment on facebook, they are tracking everyone who types "berlusconi". it's awful, i feel very uncomfy in italy right now, we are breathing a heavy heavy air.
sorry  :off:

Also  :off: sorry
I was actually surprised at how unhappy I was at what happened to Berlusconi. He is beyond this sort of petty stuff. His model of media controling Demagoguery  masqueraiding as democracy might just be Italy's political lagacy to the  politics of the 21st centuary in the way that fascism was its contribution to the 20th.
Buy Rage against the Machine its our only hope.

much as I love that album and has some all time solid gold bangers on it, it's just nowhere near as good an overall album as doggystyle or 2001. The quality really tails off in the back half.

Fear not, he's pushing 60.  I had no idea it was 90s, I thought it would be much older, like the rest of the random music he demands as gifts, he must be feeling trendy this year.  8)

Burn My Eyes-Machine Head
Great Southern Trendkill-Pantera
Nola-Down
Our Problem-Iron Monkey
Necroticism -Carcass
To ride straight-Entombed

I tend to struggle with picking favourirtes from the 90's 00's I stopped buying new music a few years ago so it all seems to come from the same sort of era, leading me to conclude that I'm old because most new music is shit and has all been done before.

Certainly agree with Reef and Gomez being in there, brilliant.

I may well get abuse for this, but for me this album was amazing. Still one of my favourite albums of all time.
