any advice tips etc? places to take in along the way?
-
You taking a pair of rock shoes? :)
A guy I know was planning on doing JOG2LE offroad (as much as possible) in the summer, but haven't seen him for a while so no idea how it went.
-
I think it's easier to go North - South, it's all downhill that way
-
I know a guy who did LE to JOG sticking to the west coast as much as possible. 3200 miles. 56 days.

you can incorporate the pennine way he you in the right way, lots of beautiful scenery along that
-
pasta that, hadn't clocked this is in the two wheel sub forum. I suspect you might sips some people off riding some sections
-
Brilliant predictive cock ups there!

I'm planning to do this myself, hopefully sometime next year.
I've talked to quite a few people who have done it in different directions and the consensus seems to be that lands end to JOG is the best direction due to the Scotland bit being the most scenic (I'd imagine you'd need the distraction from the pain in your legs and arse by then). Also I imagine the shitty amusement park at land's end would be a real anticlimax.
12-14 days seems to be a reasonable time for completion.
The Bar to Yar is considered a good practice run.
-
And the wind - it makes a big difference. All the records are broken south to north.

Don't expect too much from JoG. Brings new meaning to words shit and hole.

It's not you know, I would never have agreed to do Inverness to Glasgow if I knew it had so many uphill bits!! ;)

Indeed, although you can go on a good boat trip. 8)

be careful; when I was at school my music teacher set of to do this and got killed by a truck as his Mrs. was following behind in the car as support crew. All for charity, pretty shit.
-
You weren't involved by any chance Paul? :'(
-
no but I did later feel very guilty for giving him any hassle during classes.
-
cheers people, i was keen for the west coast of scotland - looking at these pics in a minute.
i guess you could ride the pennines - along the new bridalway so thats an idea.
keep em coming - going to do it in august 2010.
-
