Post by: cofe on August 07, 2009, 03:33:50 pm

as one friend pointed out, he went away on the exact 71st anniversary of the first ascent of the walker ridge at the grand jorasses. curious.
a few quotes:
- after rescueing some climbers stuck on a route, they got down and there was a priest who thanked god for the happy ending. cassin said "you have to thank me, not god. i rescued them".
- italian interviewer: "cassin, how did you choose a route?" cassin: "the route is the top"
- other italian interviewer: "cassin, where do you think modern alpininsm will go?" cassin: "in the mountains. the rest doesn't matter."
