Title: Unlocking Motorola phones bound to one company

I've a Motorola Rzr bound to Vodaphone that I'd like to use other sims in.

I'm aware that one can pay to have this unlocked either via Vodaphone (£20) or cracked for me (c. £12) but has anyone done this themselves or know of alternatives?
