Ever wish you hadn't bothered...
I'm trying to edit files that are in AVCHD (from a Canon HF100, which saves onto a SD card), but cannot open the file in any editing software that I have on my machine at work. I have downloaded the codecs so I can at least view the things in Windows Media Player, but thats as far as it goes.
I have Premier Elements and was looking forward to getting grips with editing for a work project so I could get onto more interesting stuff, i.e. climbing, but am getting mightily frustrated with being unable to open the files to start editing.
Any ideas?
If GCW turns up on here, as I'm sure he will - sorry to hear about the finger mate. What about putting your mind to work on my little dilemma in the meantime?

What version of Elements do you have?
I believe version 7 supports AVCHD

Don't panic VitK, either get hold of Elements7 or try this out (free trial)

Andy, thanks for your sympathy.
I may be able to sort you out with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, which I'm fairly sure will sort it. Or Vegas if you prefer.

Out of interest, how are you transferring data? Are you doing it as a capture into your editing suite, or by copying the saved files?
AVCHD is still quite new, so not that many programs support it yet.

Ever wish you hadn't got involved in a project? I'm coming to the conclusion that it will be easier to use another camera, which shoots in a more widely editable format. Messing about with AVCHD

...is just not worth wasting time.
Bollocks to it.
