Hey guys
Thinking of a trip to Bude (sp?) around the end of May with a small Liverpool posse. Does anyone have some recommendations on areas to check out or topos they could scan in for places? We are not keen on that esoteric granite business as we are diehard limestone climbers, so more keen on the coastal areas of wave washed rock..etc :)

AFAIK, the old OTE article is still one of the best sources of info, (apart from the local oracle, Simon Young). I have it at home if you need a scan. Sandymouth is a good place to start, but beware tides in some of the bays, as wading out through chest high waves as it is getting dark with a bouldering mat and camera bag balanced on your head isn't much fun (trust me on this).

Nice one Chris, I managed to swipe a copy from the old mags pile in work - OTE issue 120 with BB on the cover? Wasn't sure if there was a more recent/clearer topo and maybe newly developed areas! :-\
Will keep this mag wrapped up in cotton wool then.
I'm quite excited to check out Ache ball, carnage, clinical edge, wet bootie..etc ;D

No new topos are available... As for newly developed areas, well that'd be telling... Honestly, around Bude there haven't been that many developments. But just to help you a little... Upton roof has been burried for ages, Hartland roof RIP fell down. Ache Ball is a great problem (don't get too excited about Clinical Edge!), Carnage is classic and now has a companion line at a much harder grade thanks to Tom Newberry. I would also reccomend Northcott over Sandymouth any day.. Get a tide timetable and expect to spend some time exploring...

Bude skatepark is fun too if you're crap

And don't forget your surfboard! :spank:

Shit! I was quite looking forward to checking out the Roof :(
Cheers for the updates anyhow and I'll see what I can do about a board, aint been on one since Nibile's semi-pro coaching in Follonica 08!

Loads of hire places in Bude, and nice beach. Remember getting in with Stu Littlefair and his mate Si a few years back.

Dont tar me with your dirty (polished) brush Crouch :spank:
I'd rather slit my own throat than be called a "diehard limestone climber".....
