Title: Forum colours
Post by: Scraggadoo on April 17, 2009, 10:21:41 pm
Hey Bubba,

first of all, great job with the site, think you're doing a great job with it.

Anyway, I was wondering whether it is possible to change the colour of the forums for each user (i.e. a preferred colour scheme?).

If it is, then please could someone enlighten me how to do it?  I am stupid as stupid does if this is the case!

Cheers

I'm pretty sure Bubba wrote some scripts for the Greasemonkey firefox plugin... i'll have a search!

EDIT: I've found this:
http://userstyles.org/styles/13505 (http://userstyles.org/styles/13505)

I'm not having much luck with the search facility, there is more somewhere, slack--line will no doubt be along in a minute or two  :-[

Cheers PaulB.  Unfortunately IT is pretty shit at my company (they block nearly everything including any downloads/installations unless it's work-related...  So I'd need something for IE rather than firefox!)...

I have seen on some forums that they have a dropdown menu at the bottom to choose what colours the forum should be in - don't know how easy this stuff is or not.  I am by no means a computer expert (as you've no doubt guessed by now!).

well as an alternative, if you have a usb pen drive install this to that:
http://portableapps.com/ (http://portableapps.com/)
and you can use firefox in all its glory wherever you go!

Haha they don't let me use USB pen drives either -  :wank:

Jeez! I'm not sure if you can install it to a CD but I'm guessing you're not allowed anything with 'sharp' edges anyway!

Unfortunately there are no other colour schemes at present.

SMF 2.0 is soon to be released and when it has been it might be worth working on a couple of new themes.

What sort of thing did you have in mind Scraggadoo? Are you just bored with the current theme or do you need something more work friendly?

Thanks Paul for the help though so far, sorry it's a pain!

Bubba, a white background is all I want really...  If that's possible?

Scraggs, are you using internet explorer?  If so go to the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.  On the General tab, click Accessibility.  Tick "ignore colours specified on web pages".

If you have FireFox, go to the Tools menu, select the Content tab.  Click Colours and then uncheck the "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above" box.  Then you can select whatever colours you like.

Sorted.

Aye, IE is what I'm using...  I will have to give that a go.  If successful, waddage is coming your way once I hit the 50 post mark...

Great stuff.

Good stuff.
The only downside is that you'll lose the nice borders on the buttons etc.

Yeah I noticed that, it does look a bit crap but it is bearable to me so I am happy with that!   8)
