Google's Street-view is now live for cities in the UK.
Just go to Google Maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps) and above the slider that allows you to zoom in and out there should be a little orange man that you can drag to a location on the map that is covered , release and you jump to the street view. Just checked out my crib 8)
-
That's fucking mad - chez Bubba. It's pretty dodgy really, you can zoom right in and check security, etc. It'll be a thief's playground - there was a guy busted the other day who'd tracked down leaded roofs via google earth.
-
Is that your actual house Bubba? It's a well cool shape; quite Art Deco-ish.
I have just discovered the new Google stuff, I love it! You can zoom right in and see my cats scratching post through the window.
Now, who wants to tell me their postcode so I can try and look in their window!!
-
luckly i'd done a tidy parking job the day they came round ours.
-

Yeah, that is my house/millstone.
Art-deco stylee, built in '36. There's quite a few of them on the street - the flat roof is great in summer for sunbathing/barbies.
I say millstone coz paying for the thing leaves me with £20 cash per week after bills and food :boohoo:
At least they've had the decency to obfuscate registration numbers.
-
Love that white place behind yours bubs.....
-
:)
-
Nice place you got there Bubba, my first impression was it was designed by a sailor as it looks like a house you'd get around a port :)
They didn't drive past my front door so theives will have to stake my house out to get the low-down on access.
@Bubba : How'd you embed that, I can't get the [ html ] BBcode tags to work...
-
Now, who wants to tell me their postcode so I can try and look in their window!!
Sadly nothing like that up here yet. Muchalls doesn't even have a decent overhead resolution yet.

It's so pretty though! And a flat roof you can get out on! Definitely worth eating beans on toast a lot ;)
Why can't I see the imbedded pictures anymore? I want to peer in Slacker's windows, but neither of the linky picture things are showing up now, just white boxes.
I would show you my beautiful home in the ghetto but I don't know how [/technodunce] I bet you're all gutted at that ;D

Can't snoop into my house (the white one) (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=41+Tylney+Road,+Sheffield+S2+2RX,&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF8&hl=en&ll=53.374164,-1.44953&spn=0.005722,0.013819&z=16&iwloc=addr&layer=c&cbll=53.374158,-1.449377&panoid=tFE-

Could be that Google Maps thinks your a non-legit user (i.e. an automated bot) to check just go to http://maps.google.co.uk/ (http://maps.google.co.uk/) and you may be asked to enter a passcode. Do that and you should be able to see things again (I only know this because I have exactly the same problem here at work!).

Only Bubba can use the [ html ] BBcode you need to use to embed it properly.

I had a suspicion you didn't live that far away from me Jasper, but its <5 minutes, we should go out for a beer somewhen, shame all the pubs thereabouts are shite :P
-
Indeed Slackers. The few opportunities I get to go out are never spent any where near where I live!

Careful, BB will be peeking through your windows to see if you've got leggings on :-*
-
 I nearly posted the same thing myself, but then decided he's had enough of a roasting over that already.
I'm assuming you're all far enough away to make actual window peering unlikely, that and the fact you'd need a very big ladder. ;)
-
Gutted, they traipsed every measly dead end cul-de-sac around here but missed out our road completely!

I'd be pretty pissed off if I was trying to keep my IV drug habit a secret only to find myself pictured leaving the exchange.
-
Well, as expected the google-privacy-apocalypse roadshow hasn't made it to our small village yet.
But I am extremely disappointed that the coverage for our nearest big city stops about 100m from where I sat and watched the google car drive past - only another 100m of coverage and there would be pictures of me waving!
(Hmm, maybe that's why they set the cutoff there?)
By the way, am I the only one to find it rather strange that so many carefully pseudonymed-up internet personas are posting up URLs that contain entire home addresses? Google probably already knows where we all live, but now so does everyone else!

I figured since the majority of you live pretty far away, if you decide to come all the way up here to rob / molest me then you probably deserve a wee bit of help for your effort. Plus, it doesn't say Pie on the buzzer. ;)

I've no qualms over revealing my real name or where I live, I use it when I PM people all the time on this site and others where I use the exact same pseudonym. I prefer a pseudonym so that my ramblings aren't uncovered when applying for jobs and such like (have UKB setup under FoxyProxy (http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/) too at work).
Facebook is far worse (not signed up myself).

From that Daily Mail article this is particularly ironic...

Anyone checked recently? They've got everything. And I mean everything.
Check out what the campsite at the foot of Glen Rosa looks like in Summer. Go for a roadside viewing of Sron Na Ciche.

Just checked, they still haven't been past my front door. You can see it from a nearby road, but they didn't drive right past my front door so no full-360o view.

Not the UK, but last year in Sardinia we were sat around on the veranda and noticed a car coming down the dead end road, curious to see who it was I stood up to have a look and it was a Google StreeView car snapping pictures. Read last night that there had been a huge update to StreetView and lo and behold....
