I passed one of the Streetview cars on the Stocksbridge by-pass (A616) in autumn last year. Childishly tried to give the camera the finger but was probably moving too fast for it to be visible.

Spring sometime (http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/google-uk-street-view-launching-in-spring-497331) as far as I can tell.

You do normally have a short window (some 15-20 minutes) to modify your post after you've posted it. Just go back into the thread and and look for the "Modify" link near the top-right of your post.
