Title: Earl Conditions
Post by: Adam Lincoln on October 29, 2008, 07:17:50 pm
Was very cold today, most stuff not green. Should get better and better as week of dry weather continues

Maybe but sometimes shady crags get worse in this kind of weather. Each night frost forms and each day it melts but doesn't dry on shaded faces. Day on day it can get wetter despite lack of rain. It depends on wind, humidity and night temps I guess

Just got back from Almscliff, and it was pissing rain/sleet past Earl.  It'll be a little while before it's back in.

Been pretty wet this way, I'm guessing it will be pretty verdant unless it stays dry all tomorrow.  May be better if there's a strong wind, but it'll still take a bit of drying.
Having said that, there's often bits and bobs that are climbable.

Very damp today. Lots of snow and ice on most of the top outs. Some climbable rock. We didn't go very far though.

Thought I'd revive this thread in case anyone's looked at the forecast and planned a day off tomorrow. Earl was in great nick today: everything at the monument end was dry and the total lack of wind meant it wasn't too cold.

I really want to it to be dry tomorrow, is there much chance?

I know it rained/was fogtastic yesterday. Anyone going there later today/tomorrow ?
Just wondered how green it is/any chance of it being any good on Saturday
