Moronically, and somewhat asleep this morning, I inserted a 3 inch CD into the slot drive of my ibook. Needless to say, the little shit is now stuck in there and I can't figure out how to get it out. Am I possibly right in thinking that I could remove the casing on the underneath of the laptop to give me access or is it likely to be concealed? I ask as I don't have any small allen keys on me and don't want a ton of cables to flop out on me should this be a likely scenario.

You might also invalidate the warranty if you tek it to bits. I'd try resting a hard pad, like a crashpad actually, on a table edge, and twatting the book on it's edge with the drive slot overhanging, in the hope that the CD would fall out without breaking the machine. A bit like smashing one's head on the bed post swim to remove ear water.....

I recon you'd do worse damage hitting the machine hard. I haven't come across this one before but the first thing I would try is get some very thin but semi rigid plastic, like the stuff that is the window on toy packaging (Mini-Obi has his first birthday, hence why it sprung to mind!) First try it flat or maybe use a ruler to fold a tiny 'barb on the edge and gently try and fish the disk out. Looking online may tell you where the sensitive bit (lens) of the drive is so you can try and avoid that. Good luck.

I have no idea why I did this but the disc that came with my new LG phone has all the software I need on it. I had a strong hunch this would happen but idiotically proceeded anyway.
I'll try some gentle tapping and then the barb idea should that fail.

Some slot drives have an emergency eject, like tray drives. Straighten a paper clip out and poke it in the hole.
If not, is it a modular drive? Can you slide it out?

Forgot to say, not much point in opening up your ibook, unless it is to replace the whole drive!

No access from the top or underside, and probably little easier access via the slot. Oh yeah and don't google 'stuck mini cd in ibook', it will only depress you. Sorry. :0(

Sorted it.
Succumbed to underground's suggestion. Just tapped it across my knee a good few times and the very edge of the disc started to peek out. A severe fingernail crimping session finished it off. Bodes well for Duel eh.

Can you still get those min-CD adapter things that clip on and make it a full sized disc? I've got one somewhere, I'm sure of it.

Why would you want to install that sort of software anyway?

I plugged in my phone with the supplied usb cable and it didn't appear as a volume. I presume I need to install some sort of driver?
