Here's hoping for a full recovery.

One wellwisher, posting as Sloper, wrote: “It goes without saying that everyone sends Andy and his family all the very best at what must be a very difficult time. Just get well, whether it’s this week or next.”
Another, called Robson left the message: “Wishing Andy a full and speedy recovery, come on lad.”
And Jacqusie wrote: “Get well soon friend - many people are all hoping and praying for you.”

From the Climb Newcastle website:
It's been nearly a month now since our MD Andy fell seriously ill and after discussion with his family we have decided it is now a good time to put an update out on his progress.
Many of you may have read about Andy's story when it was covered in local and national press as he awoke from a two-week long coma just before Christmas.
Since then Andy has made very steady and positive progress and has moved from intensive care to a high dependency ward and now onto an ordinary ward where he is beginning rehabilitation. On behalf of ourselves, his colleagues, and his family and friends we would like to say a huge thank you at this point to all of the staff in the A&E, intensive care and neurology departments at the RVI and everyone else who has helped Andy get this far.
We know many people are keen to see Andy. However as the visiting hours in the normal wards are very limited and Andy has a newborn baby and first-time mother to spend time with, Andy's family have asked that at this stage people do not visit him unless they are close friends or family and then in consultation with the family.
Thank you all again for your kind words, cards, presents for the baby and also for your continued support of Climb Newcastle in what have been difficult times. Hopefully Andy can continue to make great improvements in the days and weeks to come...
-
Seems like a remarkable recovery so far. Here's hoping to see it continue.
-
anyone got an update on how andy is getting on
-
I talked with Springer at Copycat Newcastle last week and he gave me an update.
The Earl is out of hospital and is in a care home/rehab centre (no not that kind of rehab) and is being allowed home at weekends. Springer says that the improvement every time he sees Andy is very noticeable.
He can talk a bit and apparently when told that Andy Carrol had signed for Liverpool he said Ashley was a "cnut".
So come on Andy, keep on getting better, we all love yer. I might even wear a Toon shirt at the CWIF in your honour.
-
Just yesterday I was reading an interview with his lass in Climb (she sounds pretty entertaining), and was just wondering this. Glad he's making some, if slow, progress, and hope it continues well.
-
I.

Keep up the progress andy!

All in the name of charidee - helped raise £1500 for Beth last year, Andy chucked in £50 to see me in B&W. We will be raising money for a charity of Andy's choice this year so I am prepared to don the shirt of shame if enough people pledge cash in advance. All of the Team entry fees for the CWIF will go to the charity.
-
Count me in graeme. Always a pleasure to see you showing your true colours.
I know you love it really.

Of course the shirt I may wear has the name 'Gay' on the back, I wonder who it belongs to ;D
-
Apologies if I missed some obvious update, but does anyone know how Andy is getting on with recovery? I hope he is well.
-
Last i heard he was walking with the aid of sticks and making good progress
-
Superb, I wish him the very best. As someone who has had to learn to walk again (Although in no way near the same league) I hope he continues to makes good progress.
-
Was wondering just the same thing myself (have been revising Northumberland Bouldering Guide recently). Glad there is progress and hope it continues.
-
we're running a series of inter-wall league competitions in the north of england starting next month
as a side project i have started to bother local theatres to give free tickets towards raffles that will raise cash for andy's rehab and physio that is costing thousands. graeme alderson can confirm as he passed the news on to me.
so if you are down at one of these comps, as well as entering please buy a raffle ticket if there's a prize or donate some change if i havent managed to get anything.
