Snake hipped mofo. Those were the days when our heroes were attractive, climbed hard and then retired to the middle of nowhere to indulge in some sado bullshit. What do we have now? Dead hanging and heads like turnips!

Im also slightly disappointed as I thought this might have been the come back of all come backs!

My memory is that Pollit, Moffit and co invented deadhanging.
They only got interesting after they retired.

On this subject I'd been trying to find some recorded interviews with Andy online to no avail. Sure I'd listened to them via a link off here a while back.  Anyone any ideas?

Actually, it's funny rememberlng those days as a starry eyed 17/18 year old hanger-on ( and occasionally allowed to belay my third rate immediate superiors).
Andy, you were one of the heroes. I'm just that little bit younger...

I'm not sure about that. I saw Andy and Basher in the Noah's Ark in Crookes wankered on lager and smelling of weed. Not saying they did it every night though

Andy very generously gave me my first pair of rock boots when I started climbing in '92/'93 after moving in next-door to Gav, Nic, Jase and Peggo.

Hopefully Niall can get him on the phone for a Jamcrack episode?

My then Mrs used to look forward to magazines arriving with Andy's lycra clad arse on the cover. He was by a rather large margin the best looking of the bunch though.

It was probably from rockarchivist.co.uk (http://www.rockarchivist.co.uk/) by Phil Kelly, but the interviews no longer appear to be hosted on the site (they are mentioned in this article (https://www.thebmc.co.uk/joe-brown-audio-interviews) and this thread (http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=419669)).

Perhaps try contacting Phil Kelly to see where they are.

Jon interviewed Mark Leach about The Bells! (http://v-publishing.co.uk/blog/v-publishing-blog/2016-03-03---the-bells-the-bells.html)

Andy P's Tremadog chapter from Extreme Rock. (http://v-publishing.co.uk/blog/v-publishing-blog/2016-03-16---extreme-rock-void-cream-and-strawberries.html)

Jerry reminiscing about climbing and hanging out with Andy. (http://v-publishing.co.uk/blog/v-publishing-blog/2016-04-04---jerry-moffatt-on-andy-pollitt.html)

More to come...

Andy fucking Pollitt turns up on ukb just as the ability to wad him is removed! Arrgh!
Loved your book Andy, second only to Dawes' of the recent lot I've read (Ben, Jerry, Ron, Dawes). Thanks for writing it, hugely enjoyed the early years which I wasn't really grabbed by in any of the other books.

AP, you wont remember me but I was another denizen of the original Eric's Barn, summer of '81, unemployed and living for climbing.
Happy days (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,11074.msg186917.html#msg186917)

I'm looking forward to reading the book.

... for the unashamed bump, but, I'd very much like to offer multiple genuine and heartfelt thanks to everybody who's shelled out a bit of their hard-earned and taken the book to No2 in Vertebrate Publishing's 'most popular' list in climbing books.
Am seriously humbled and very, very grateful.
Thanks all,
Stay safe and enjoy.
Cheers,
Andy.

Hello Andy, very long time no see. I just wanted to say thanks for the book. I've actually just written a review of it for Climb magazine. Without pre-empting the review too much I just wanted to say here how much I enjoyed it.

Cheers and take care,

Thanks again for the book and all the good times.

I'm amazed the review is out already - in any case, I'm really glad you and Andy B were pleased with it, its always a little nerve-wracking writing a review of a friend's work.

And you definitely have first dibs on "AP".

Just finished my copy of this.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. The honesty and openness with which Andy has written about his experiences, both climbing and non-climbing, made this book for me and really marks it out amongst the other books by climbers from this era.

His account of his repeat of The Bells! The Bells! goes beyond palm sweats into genuine fear. It's impressive how much detail he remembers about it after 30 years and perhaps speaks volumes about the experience for him.

One thing I'll say is it sounds to me like you should start your own rope access company.

Thanks Andy.

Thanks heaps Highrepute & S A Chis, kind words indeed & much appreciated.
No prizes for 'literary merit' here though so am rooting for Simon McCartney's The Bond for the awards - not that I've read it yet.
Actually picked up Steve Bell's 'Virgin on Insanity' today and am totally engrosed, terrific writing. (And bettr thun the 1 wot I rote 2).

I read my copy cover to cover while living in an old quarry building above Dali's Hole over the summer, which seemed appropriate. Thought it was really good!

Unfortunately I spilled bright pink wax all over it when I was woken up by midge attack and got flustered trying to light candles to keep the little fuckers away. :( At least the garish pink went with the pictures of Andy's leggings  :P

To i_a_coops

Have never sent a 'wad' to anyone (though have loaned a few which unsurprizingly didn't get repaid) but I salute you for the hut-living up there in the slate quarries.
Hope 'Punk' gave you the odd moment of amusement. Thanks heaps.

Hi Andy.

Hope life's good.

The book was a great read - as was Jerry's. Really takes you back to some great times! Completely deplorable in places of course  :P (It really wasn't that busy.. ;) )

Enjoyed reading about your love affair with Gogarth - inspired me to get back over there for the first time in twenty years! I love that place. Ticked a few classics which I'd missed the first time, including Resolution Direct of course - which is fabulous  8)

Great to see metallic lycra making a comeback. It's all too clean though these days; piss stains were always de rigueur  ;D

Will pm ya x
