Title: Problem with La Sportiva "solution"
Post by: Alec1017 on October 25, 2012, 09:32:52 am
I bought two pairs of La Sportiva "solution" shoes but found the strap broke easily.
Do you guys meet similar problem as me?
I luckily found a local company to help me repair it(free).

However, if this is a common problem, i will probably switch to other brands.

It is a common problem. Never had Solutions myself but i know some guys who had the same problems.
La sportivas building quality is a generaly a well known problem around here.

I've emailed sportiva 3 times. They don't reply. It's a shame as they are a great fit but there are a couple of flaws. The toe rubber peels and the strap breaks. I heard that they blame it on not drying/airing your boots properly after climbing.

i canīt complain about the warranty service of sporitva. They changed my miuras when the leather broke without any problem and my katanas where the sole peeled off also (happend 2 times in series). but it is too complicated for me to always send in the broken and wait for the new ones. so i just switched to scarpa and i donīt regret it. They generally fit me better (or at least equal), they have an equivalent to every sportiva shoe and i never had any issues with them till now and iīm wearing my sixth pair now.

i'm on my first pair of solutions and tried to smear the strap with a protective paint
(when finished looks like a like a thin layer of rubber)

will report back if they get to resole stage...

They snap where the strap goes through the metal eyelet. Hope the paint idea works.

I had a problem with the straps my VCS's but Lyon Equipment sorted it out. I got the impression their service department was being run a little tight in terms of staffing levels but I was happy with how they sorted it out. Have you tried ringing them up, often gets a more direct result than emailing?
