Title: Font Gite Recommendations
Post by: Wipey Why on October 31, 2010, 06:02:39 pm
Has anyone got any recommendations for a Gite in Font. We were going to book with Neil again, but he seems to be booked up during April.

We stayed here this summer:

Very central, nice place with plenty of space. The owner doesn't speak much English but it's amazing what you can organise with Google translate.

I'll step in and recommend Stef's place http://www.bonadresse.com/ile-de-france/la-chapelle-la-reine.htm (http://www.bonadresse.com/ile-de-france/la-chapelle-la-reine.htm)
He has a nice gite and does excellent B&B as well.
Have stayed with him on a number of occasions as have friends.

I've stayed at gite 194 (http://www.gites-de-france.com/gites/smileservice/recherche?FROMMAP=1&langue=438&produit=153&LREG=0&ENV=G&RAYON=0&COMMUNE=SAINT-MARTIN-EN-BIERE&CODE_INSEE=77425&NBJSEJ=0&DEBSEJ=JJ%2FMM%2FAA&CAPMIN=1&CAPMAX=none) which was fine. 195 next door is similar.

Also stayed at one in Recloses which also has a similar one next door; numbers 220 and 221 (http://www.gites-de-france.com/gites/smileservice/recherche?FROMMAP=1&langue=438&produit=153&LREG=0&ENV=G&RAYON=0&COMMUNE=RECLOSES&CODE_INSEE=77386&NBJSEJ=0&DEBSEJ=JJ%2FMM%2FAA&CAPMIN=1&CAPMAX=none)

Stayed at both of Lagers' recommendations.  If you have young kids Recloses is the better option but otherwise there's not much to chose between them, I'd happily stay at either of them again.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I may try to book Stef's place as it seems we may be able to add some bunk beds if more decide they want to come.

I've stayed at 194 and 195 a couple of times as well, heading back there again in a few weeks. It's well located for Apremont and the other stuff round Barbizon. Also stayed here :-

which was good for some of the areas further south (Petit Bois, Rocher Greau, Elephant). The one we were in had an open fire, which was a bonus.

my freind booked the one in arbonne last week, the log cabins, turned up and left, he said they were all very damp and you could smell it and feel it in the air and he didnt want to risk it with the little baby in tow

However, all of these answers and questions just show april will be very packed once more here in the forrest, especially by the Easter period, so guys, get to your contact and don't waist time for your bookings... ahahaha !!!!
I'll rest from my climbing in april and will ride my bike, away from the Brits troops !

I can reccomend the recloses Gite number 221, we stayed there as a party of 6 and found it a great place to stay and reasonably priced.

stayed here before - very close to elephant, dame jouane etc

nice, clean and friendly. Has sofas enough for everyone, which is essential for evening relaxation imho. Has a wood burning stove which is always a bonus!

Ok, sorry to hijack the thread, but seemed simpler for all concerned, rather than starting another.....

Looking for a 6-8 person (maybe slightly more) gite for over New Year (30th Dec - onwards) to 16th January, looked at most recommended on this thread already, most of which are unavailable.....

Can anyone recommend any?
